La historia se sitúa 300 años después de un gran conflicto entre la Tierra y Marte conocido como “Calamity War”. Una mujer llamada Cordelia parte en un viaje hacia la Tierra para hablar por la independencia de la ciudad marciana de Chryse, actualmente bajo el control del gobierno de la Tierra. Como su escolta irá la compañía privada de seguridad CGS, a la cual pertenecen los protagonistas Mikazuki Augus y Orga Itsuka. Cuando un grupo llamado Gjallarhorn ataca al CGS y a Cordelia, Orga ve una oportunidad de oro para rebelarse contra el CGS y lanzar un golpe de estado. Mikazuki y Orga entran así en nuevo conflicto. Para defenderse de Gjallarhorn Mikazuki sube a un viejo Mobile Suit de la Calamity War que está potenciado por un reactor nuclear, el Gundam Barbatos.
